RFPI (Radio for Peace International) was a station that was closed in a very hostile manner in 2003 by Costa Rica's (actually UN's) University for Peace. This was the campus radio station.

I tried to visit the website today to see if I'd get an Error 404, but no--here it is and its gory story of hostility on the Peace campus is still there for all to read.

People who tout peace aren't all they seem to be, sometimes.

I've heard scuttlebutt that James Latham, the station operator, has gone on to other things here in the States and may have abandoned rebuilding RFPI. I hope not--it was once one of my favorite stations on shortwave radio.
